We kicked off our travel year 2024 with a very special trip, traveling to the beautiful state of Hawaii with our friends Dave and Connie. Both couples mark our 50th wedding anniversaries this year and thought it would be a great way to kick off the year's celebrations. The trip started with two full days in Oahu, visiting Pearl Harbor, the North Shore, Dole Plantation and some serious beach time on Waikiki! We then headed for Maui for four days, exploring the up country and engaging in some serious whale watching, and unwinding on the beautiful beaches and pool at our condo complex on Kanapaali Beach. The island is still reeling from the horrific fire that devastated Lahaina (and other areas of the island), but their generous spirit of Aloha is still strong (if you can, we encourage you to reach out with assistance to their recovery efforts). We wrapped up our trip with four days on Kauai. This was our first trip to the Garden Isle and we are wondering why it took so long to visit - it is a spectacular place with the breathtaking Waimea Canyon, wide, soft sand beaches and lush tropical vegetation. |
